The Information’s San Francisco AI Summit

Artificial intelligence has become the latest battleground for startups, tech giants and venture capitalists, with tens of billions of dollars already at stake. OpenAI’s ChatGPT catalyzed a boom in conversational AI, which has seeped into industries such as healthcare, law, advertising and education, and has sent regulators and content publishers into a tizzy. AI-generated video and music is shaking up Hollywood and other fields. Now, a handful of companies will shape the future of this technology—and the way society interacts with it.

The Information’s AI Summit on September 5 will tackle the most pressing questions facing the fast-moving industry. Located in San Francisco and hosted by Amir Efrati, Stephanie Palazzolo and other reporters from The Information, the Summit will feature fireside chats and lively panel discussions with the founders, investors and scientists shaping the field. Attendees will get to talk and learn from these leaders, with plenty of time for live Q&A and networking.

Among the topics we’ll explore:

  • Which AI business models are working and which ones aren’t
  • New generative AI services that business customers are paying for
  • Upcoming consumer and enterprise applications of genAI
  • The limits of genAI and when new capabilities will be unlocked
  • The status and trajectory of open-source AI versus closed-source AI
  • Where the supply and price of AI-server chips are heading
  • What comes after large language models and transformers
  • AI funding: the deals that early-stage and elite VCs are targeting
  • The global AI race
